These are in west LA around the drive-through of my local In-N-Out fast food burger joint. They just sprouted berries in the last month or so, late in the year, so I figured I'd snag some photos while I waited in line for my burger :)

    Anyone recognize them?

Rhaphiolepis looks right to me too. There are two in cultivation in northern California - one with a red leaf margin (sold as R. x delacourii 'Coates Crimson') , the other with a green toothed margin. The later is is sold under the name Rhaphiolepis 'Montic'.

Northern California is going to have a lot more kinds than just those two, these are a big item on the west coast.

Sure. There are more around - the two cvs mentioned are always available in the local market.

Thanks Silver Surfer, et al! There does seem to be quite a variety, but I've found plenty of them that do look quite like it! I'm going with this ID for the time being. I recall now seeing flowers on some of them months back, and they were white, and some of the varieties that looked like a match online to me had flowers that matched my memory, too. Thanks again!
