Hi guys, I'm new here, and I dunno if you can help me. I live in Africa, but I've asked around everywhere, and no one can tell me what plant this is! I had a pot plant on my desk at work that died recently, and one of our mangers works in a nursery part time because her mother-in-law owns it, so she brought me a new one. Thing is, she can't tell me what plant it is. I really, really don't want to follow her guidance on taking care of this plant, because I did last time, and the plant died, and then she told me I did it wrong. Blech. I name my plants so I get attached to them... can anyone please tell me what type of plant this is, so I can Google it and see how to take care of it? I hope you can recognize this plant, and that it's not indigenous to Africa. I've even tried reverse image search engines and nothing!
Wow, I just compared images online and it might very well be!! (I don't know anything about plants... Hangs head in shame...) The only thing that bothers me is from what I've scanned through quickly it seems to be a Mediterranean plant, more found in North Africa, I live in Southern Africa, right between the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert. However, the nursery could still have imported it, I suppose. Thank you for your response, I'll see if anyone else responses, but in the mean time I'll read up more on this Cylamen, because I think this is a definite possibility. Thanks so much!!! :D
Likes cooler temperatures. Also goes dormant for part of the year, if the top goes down all at once do not assume it has died. Lives until the next growing period as a tuber.
