Unknown plant

    Can anyone identify this tree? It is located White Rock, B.C.Thanks for your help.

    Lilac Syringa. The yellow objects are old flowerheads, but without any developing fruit (so it may be a sterile double-flowered cultivar).

    Spent Syringa vulgaris heads I've seen look different, this seems more likely to be flower buds of a different kind of plant - maybe growing beneath the lilac.

    Thanks for the ID confirmation. I thought it was a lilac, but I think the flower heads
    threw me off.The leaves and twigs are very distinctive however. Thanks again for your help.

    Maybe they belong to a Ligustrum rootstock.
