I am quite new to gardening so would appreciate some help in identifying this plant and in knowing if i should get rid of it. It has come through in the last couple of weeks and has spread over an area approximately 3m2. The roots seem to be knitted together.

According to Wikipedia, it was featured in the Duchess of Cambridge's bridal bouquet.

I'm very surprised to learn that all parts of it are toxic. We had them along the side of our house when I was a youngster. We just sang about them (snippet of song). We had some yew bushes as well, whose seeds are poisonous. When I think of how (over) protective my mother was inclined to be, that amazes me. She must have had no idea.
