Unknown plant located in Tumwater WA, USDA 7b

    A groundskeeper brought a phot of a tree with a dramatic bloom that I ws unable to ID. If anyone can ID the attadhed phto I would be appreciative.

    hardy in USDA zone 7. I have never seen it in the regional nusery trade, beautiful tree.

    Independent nurseries here had them for a few years, after which they seemed to largely disappear. I noticed ugly duckling spareness of growth on young trees in garden center sizes, foliage mildew problems under the often inadequate watering regimes of local sales yards. Developed specimens in the area have made unique additions to the landscape. I particularly like the white-flowered ones because the dark brown lines inside the flower are shown well by the backdrop being white.

    Low, broad and shrubby. Big, showy pink or white flowers all summer. Dull yellow fall color
