We purchased a wonderful plant from the discount section of the Canadian Tire on West Broadway (Vancouver) a few days ago, and have been trying to identify it. Your help is greatly appreciated, especially by my wife! The plant was purchased from the outdoor rack on a major discount, which means it was probably outside all winter long (perhaps a perennial/evergreen?). No sign of any flowers. See pictures below for best description. Overall plant Underside of leaf (compound?) Top view of leaf Stem--the way it branches out reminds me of a dragon tree Close-up of stem growth Roots

I agree, it looks like 'heavenly bamboo' Zone 6 (so it will survive in Vancouver) and semi-evergreen; will get to about 6-8ft x 4ft wide, but unlike regular bamboos it will not take over
