While visiting friends in Nova Scotia Canada I saw a perrenial that my friend received from her local garden centre. She does not know what it is. Any help?

Looks like Milkweed for the Monarch butterflies.
Doesn't look like a northern variety so it might be Asclepias-curassavica.
Good to have around and they produce beautiful flowers, attract beneficial insects and produce lots of seeds that you can give to friends, family, etc!
If you have a large empty field/lot that you don't know what to do with, perfect for a milkweed habitat for the monarchs or other insects.
Monarch larvae/caterpillars can eat a lot so if you plan on raising any (you can buy online) you will want to have plenty to provide them.
