    Well, Silver Surfer, I've been studying the links you provided, but am unsure - the closest seems to be the http: link to rattlepods. When the seed pods form, I'll add a photo to the post. Many thanks for your information.

    OK - seed pods developing - covered with white hairs, and close ups of the style and stamens are attached. The stamens look united but separate easily - so I'm staying 10 free. Any thoughts re this being Phyllota? Descriptions match, except there's nothing with the large leaves of the unknown.
