Anyone have any idea what this plant is? My wife's uncle gave it to me, but he is Chinese so he didn't know the English name of the plant. Evidently he takes the blooms and makes a medicinal soup out of them. I've been trying to figure out what it is so that I could give it proper care.

Description: rubbery green leaves, with a brown stem. the flowers seem to be translucent and from what he says, only bloom at night. The flowers grow directly off of the leaves. picture is attached.
