    I like it for a Trichostema
    possibly Trichostema brachiatum

    Disagree with Trichostema, but need to look at books in the library tomorrow to better determine.

    Stachys latidens? (scroll down on page, the first few photos are of a different species)

    The flowers are different than Stachys latidens, which also doesn't seem to grow in Illinois. Here's a better photo of the flowers close up. My latest thought was Teucrium canadense. Hilty from the IL Wildflowers website mentions the highly reduced upper lip as a good identifier, though I also can't remember how hairy the leaves were.
