Hi, Years ago I hiked White Mountains, California, USA. South of Barcroft Laboratory, at about 12.000 feet altitude, I took the picture of a flower shown in the attachment. The second picture shows the place where I took the picture in an extremely impressive and memorable landscape. I would be very grateful if anybody can help me finding scientific and common name of the white flowers? Thanks in advance. Warmest regards Amadej Trnkoczy Slovenia EC
Hi Amadej The flower is one of the phlox genus. From the leaf and altitude I would guess Phlox condensata. Great pictures, great place. There are better on line pictures than the above link for comparison on CalFlora, but you have to register to gain access. Registration is free for 2006, though. Harry
Thank you Harry. I browsed web and compared other pictures and information available for Phlox condensata. I compared the gathered to my memories and I am nearly sure you gave me the right advice. Thank you very much again. Amadej
