This flower was found at Walnut Canyon National Monument on June 19. The elevation is about 7000 feet. I think it belongs to the Phlox family. The closest flower I can find is Woodhouse's Phlox (Phlox woodhousei), however, this flower does not have the white center that Woodhouse's Phlox have. Both have the notched petal lobes. Any ideas?
Phlox woodhousei is the best match, indeed. It can be quite variable in coloration: http://www.wnmu.edu/academic/nspages/gilaflora/phlox_speciosa.html
