Would someone help me identify this unusual, funny looking growth on my Sylvester palm? Can I have it sawed off without damaging the tree. Although it looks like a good joke I want it gone. Thank you

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum. This is a tree Burl that will not harm your tree. But IMO if you remove it this will leave your tree open to infection.
But you can have them removed.

After seeing Daniels posting I fully agree with his theory, so please ignore my thoughts on it being a Burl.

So you think I could damage my Sylvester if I try to cut if off?

As per Daniels link page, they say not to cut it off. As we know now it is not a Burl, but I would not cut that off either, as I stated in my reply on my first posting to you.
