    Re: Eight O'clock Plant?

I have this plant,,, and have been trying to locate a name for it.

These are NOT 4 O'clocks... I have them as well... and 4 O'clocks self seed... they can become like a weed if not controlled...

This un-named plant forms new plants at the base... and you just separate it and plant in different location. It does well in full sun, partial sunny locations. All I need is the name of it... someone once told me they thought it was called the Devil's plant... but I have not located it by that name either.

Mine looks like a skinny dandilion in the day... come dusk the flower pod pops and like watching a time lapse camera the flower opens within a minute or two.. Quite spectacular to view... come morning the bloom is totally wilted. The flower is a 4 petal beautiful yellow flower.

    Re: Eight O'clock Plant?

In our area this sounds like the "Night Bloomer" which I believe is a variety of Evening Primrose. There are so many varieties I cannot pin this one down. Its fruit is similiar to Hartwig Evening Primrose. The fruit is almost identical but longer. The leaves are, in fact, similar to dandelion. The flowers develop atop a stem and above above the previous flower and fruit and then becomes rambling. Does anyone know the exact name?? It blooms at 8:30 EDT.. i can provide a pic, also.
