I just noticed this flower growing in an un-mowed/uncultivated area at my home. The area is northeast US, in Maine. This may be from a pack of wildflower seeds I spread in there 3 years ago, but nothing like this grew then, and hasn't before. If it can't be seen too well in this photo, it is on a single stem, and does have bristle-like protection on the stem. Any help identifying this gorgeous invader? Thanks in advance.

    Thank you

That's what I found by googling, but couldn't be sure. I had found a nice site that groups by family, and found harebells. It's very similar to the picture, but doesn't say where they might be found growing. Thank you again. If anyone is interested in that site, it's www.wildflowers-and-weeds.com

Campanula (Canterbury Bells) definitely, they make wonderful cut flowers and many are fragrant.
