    Hi there,

I have discovered a bush growing in my backyard that has been growing quite quickly. I can't figure out if it's a bush or a tree and what it is?? Presently, I would say it is around 5 feet tall.

Probably an elaeagnus. Is it scaly?

Look for scales on shoots and leaves.

Here is a leaf from the bush scanned in - I don't see any scales or anything similar

Not sure what, but it isn't Elaeagnus.

Can you get some larger, higher resolution pics? Around 300 kb, rather than 30 kb!

I at first thought it was probably a bitter cherry but decided against it. With these better pictures it now seems that was the best guess.

Thank you Ron! I haven't noticed that the bark is peeling - but it's a young bush. Can I transplant it to a sunny location? There is a space next to an arbutus tree - would this affect it?

Probably fairly easy to move during winter, when leafless.
