Although the slugs seemed to like these.....nothing else has touched them. The caps never 'opened'.....nor have they gotten any larger then in this photo. These stood 6 and 6 3/4 cm tall.......the stems shaggy. The caps were almost non-exhistant and slightly tacky. I couldn't detect any odor and obviously didn't get spore prints. These were growing in the same locations as the Lactarius maculatipes, Lactarius piperatus, and Russula emitica. We are now going thru a 'dry-spell' as we've not recieved any rain in 3 days.....so many of the mushrooms are drying out. However, the day after tomorrow there is prediction of 3days running of showers so I'll go back and see if there's been any changes or new ones.
Looks to me like you have two funguses going on there: Amanita rubescens or flavorubescens, and Hypomyces hyalinus. http://www.mushroomexpert.com/hypomyces_hyalinus.html Best wishes, Michael
Oh wow....I'm going to have to get Moulder and Scully to go there with me next time.....what an odd creation those host/parasitic creatures are.......the texture definately looks identical. I've no idea what the main mushroom before the invasion would be however. It doesn't resemble all the main mushrooms in this particular location. Thanx again, and again, and again,..........for the help!
