I've seen both of these varieties but only Ukegomo is listed in my reference guide (Japanese Maples, J.D. Vertrees). Are they they same?

    Thanks,
    Greg

I see 'Ukigumo' in both the hardbound original Vertrees/Gregory and the softbound pocket guide, and 'Ukegumo' in neither. The Van Gelderens fashion it 'Uki gumo'.

Try Googling "ukegumo" to see what usage, if any the word might have.

I think you have just come across a careless spelling. I believe the proper name to be Ukigumo .... certainly that is the name on which I place my own trust :)

Yes, I think you both are correct. I may have reversed my references there. I think the scion I purchased may have the misspelling on it. It is one of the few that has taken successfully in my first attempt at grafting which is exciting. Just want to make sure I know exactly what I've propagated. Thanks for the feedback.
