There is a lovely little wildflower garden at UBC outside the School of Population and Public Health building (formerly Library Processing Centre). I've seen it come up the past 2 years with a mix including (probably non-native) lupins, poppies and others. It goes from nothing in early May, then green leaves slowly filling the bed, with the first flowers out at the end of May and a riot of colour in June. I know little about it, but plan to ask UBC gardeners. There are other gems around the UBC Point Grey campus. The first 2 photos below (poppies etc) are from the end of June 2012, the third (lupins) is May 14, 2012.
