    Hi!

I'm an Environmental Design (somewhat of a mix between Landscape Architecture and Architecture) student at UBC.

Our term project will be to design a new Student Union building for the campus. We're now doing some research on the campus, and my task is to gather as much information on its soil.

Would anybody know what the soil on campus is like? Its permeability? Maybe seasonal changes?
Also, if anybody would have some pdf's on anything that might be helpful, I would really appreciate.

    Thanks!

Have you approached resources at your site by talking to UBC Campus Planning or Physical Plant or digging a hole soil yourself to conduct basic soil tests such as rolling the moist soil to determine it's texture and anticipating that soil amendment may be required?

Have you talked with Translink? I suspect they've already done soil studies near the current Student Union building when (are they still?) considering a revised (underground) bus loop.
