    I.D evergreen shrub/bush

Here are some pics of the shrub/bush http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v24/gizzy/leaves.jpg all i can tell you is that it does remain green and holds its leaves in winter. It also has the little blooms seen in the picture in the fall only. I would like to buy more of these but they were give to me without any i.d tags on them. Also if it helps after 3 years of growth they are only about 5 ft tall and about 4 ft in diameter.

(Please don't edit and remove posts like you've done - it just makes work for me to try and rebuild this whole discussion to make sense to other readers.)

I had edited it in order to start a new thread with more info i did not know it would be bounced to the same previous thread. Besides i only had (1 guess) as to what the shrub is and it was wrong. I thought better info would help but on this forum if your not a plant geek apparently your not welcome.

Actually, rudeness isn't welcome. There are thousands of posts from people who don't think of plants as the be-all and end-all, and they are all welcome, including you.

Perhaps if you could post a larger photograph or scan, it might help to generate more responses.

I'm confused by this entire post. How about a larger picture of the bush? Got any of the flowers?

Both flowers and leaves look like my Eleagnus ebbingii which is blooming right now (though the flowers are so discrete I only noticed them while pruning). The leaves are dark green with a sort of metallic sheen from little flecks on top and very silver underneath, and mine vary from the size shown to twice as big. The new stems are a bit brown and fuzzy. The flowers are fragrant (up close) and sometimes followed by small and equally hidden berries. It's a great shrub for dry shade but can get big in good soil. Ours is in a dry, poor soil area and we prune out any vertical 'watershoots' two or three times a year to keep it small and shapely. After about 10 years it is 4' high and about 6' across but would be both wider and taller if we let it go.

I'll watch for your photos and maybe try to post one of ours. I'm pretty sure yours is an Eleagnus, but there are lots of species and hybrids it could be. Some of the photos which came up in my google image search were NOT really Eleagnus x ebbingei. Mine has small silvery white flowers on short stems along the branch, where they are nearly hidden by the leaves. They are in ones or twos, not in clusters. In some photos I saw the leaves look quite silvery, but mine are quite green on top except for the newly opened ones. Good luck in identifying your plant.

Definitely an Eleagnus. Which one of the 70 or so species and 20+ cultivars, I don't know, though.
