I have what I believe is a jade. It is an indoor potted plant. It has thin stalks, marked with rings every inch or so, which come up from the pot, turn horizontal for 6 or8 inches and then turn vertical. The leaves are individually attached to the vertical stalks, oval, concave, and have a slight ripple on the edge. At the end of each stem, about an inch from the last leaf are bunches of small bright red flowers. There are 10-12 flowers per flower stem. Flowers each consist of four oval petals. (Whew - a digital camera would be handy!) I can google no mention of a jade with red flowers, so I am curious. Thanks
Might it look like any of the plants mentioned in the thread Mystery crassula & droopy growth | UBC Botanical Garden Forums
Exactly! That's it! Thanks very much. My mother had this plant (and its offspring of course) for forthy years plus - called it a jade - and it never flowered. My wife got a cutting from my mother, has had this one (and offspring) for thirty years - we called it a jade - and it never flowered. This winter, voila flowers. And now we know it's not a jade at all. This site is a great facility. Glad to have found it. One interesting twist. Yesterday when I clicked on your link (thread ???) it took me to several questions which gave me the "Kalanchoe blossfeldiana" answer. Clicking on your link today (thread 11520) takes me to an entirly different subject thread. Strange!!!
Glad you were able to id your plant. Indeed. Let the site administrator know if you figure what the problem is. (I have not noticed anything unusual.)
