Can anybody help with ID for these two plants? I think the first one might be a Senecio, maybe fremontii. Photos from Independence Pass, Colorado, in July. Scanned from old slides, hence the poor image quality.
Yes, could very well be. Any idea about species? Independence Pass sits at an elevation of 12,095 ft (3,687 m), so it belongs in the alpine zone.
Yes, I think Senecio fremontii for the first, with an extremely small chance that it is this instead: Southwest Colorado Wildflowers, Senecio fremontii variety inexpectatus The other could be Heterotheca pumila -- a young plant with flowers fully open.
