Two similar plants small white flowers in cone arrangement

    I request help identifying two somewhat similar plants. Both have stalks with a cluster of small white flowers in a cone shaped arrangement. Pictures of each follow with the first two of a plant with many small very danty flowers the following three with flowers having fewer and larger petals (although the flowers themselves and the cones of flowers are of similar size:

    To: Ron B, Thank you so much, I looked them up on the internet and you are 100% correct. Now I remember someone giving us black cohosh (my wife is native american) and we planted it a few years ago, but never saw it come up and flower. It really makes sense now.
