#1 may be a salmon berry, Rubus spectabilis .

Astilbe was my first impression as well, yet it is on a forest floor, so, salmon berry seems more likely. I'm really curious about the second one as I have had a couple of those sprout up on the perimeter of my garden, could it possibly be magnolia? -- our neighbors have magnolia's running the length on the other side of our fence and the look and texture of the leaf is similar to those.
