First: I know I should not be buying mystery plants at perennial sales, but at rock bottom prices and for a fund raiser, it's hard to resist thickening up my beds. Now to identify and place accordingly in the beds.... Plant 1: At present in its yogurt container it is small, bushy, soft upright stems. Foliage is fern-like, not spiky but lacy. Quite bright, light green, ? chartreuse even. I was assured it stayed in masses and low with white daisy-like flowers. Just now I brought it in to look at and realized the leaves give off a sharp pungent odor when rubbed, ? daisy, sage like scent. Plant 2: Elongated medium green heart shaped foliage ragged edges, at present low (but isn't everything right now). The label says purple flowers, no details. I am hoping it is not Leopard's Bane..... I was told Leopard's Bane was poisonous and I have a chewing puppy. Also does anyone know about a good pictorial website to help with identification? I have a good big book but it tends to show the flowers, not always a clear picture of the foliage. Thanks
I'll guess Feverfew for the first one, Tanacetum parthenium I'm also going way out on a limb here and guessing Money Plant, Luneria annua, for the second one. For sales like this (I'm assuming church or school rather than a nursery or greehouse, correct?), people usually sell what they have too much of in their own gardens. Hence my guesses!
