I collected seeds from what I thought was Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) in a old ashram in India. It had spread naturaly and grew in the wild. I became unsertain though because the seeds are MUCH larger and does not remind of the seeds I got from the shop when I ordered Tulsi seeds. I heard that Thai basil has larger seeds, but it makes no sense that the grew thai basil in that ashram, because tulsi is a realy sacred herb in India and it really smells like tulsi. What do you think? PICTURE 1 PICTURE 2
Both the flowers and leaves look different from Ocimum tenuiflorum: http://www.comfsm.fm/~dleeling/botany/1999/vhp/ocimum_sanctum.html http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d5/Starr_080117-1577_Ocimum_tenuiflorum.jpg
You are right. And I think I found the proper species Hyptis suaveolens Seems to have some nice medical properties aswell.
