Last year we purchased about 100 new tulips. We now have 2 tulips in opposite sides of the garden that both have 2 flowers on them. We have never seen this before. Are these a new variety of tulip??? or just some horrible mutant tulip ;)

It varies with the species or cultivar. Some tulips regularly produce 3-5 flowers on each stem, while others only produce one.

Hi. One of my tulips had three flowers on one stem last April (see "3 flowered tulip"). I have lots of naturalised bulbs and had not planted any new tulips for three years so it was a bit of a puzzle as it had not materialised before. According to Ron's reply multi-headed tulips are available from suppliers. Much more interesting to just discover one though!
