    Inevitable, effectively unavoidable. Comes of people making spur-of-the-moment purchases when the tulip fields are in flower in May / June . . . and the bulbs sold are of course old and dried-out. Time to plant tulips is late summer / autumn, when they're freshly dormant ;-)
