I am planning on digging up my tulips and planting them somewhere else this fall. how soon can I dig them up? I am in zone 5. Is August to soon?
Doing it now is a fine time! The easiest & best time to lift them is after the foliage has died and all you have left is the dried remenant of the stem. They will be fully dormant at that time AND you can see where they are so none get cut in half when you dig them up.
