I started my tubers inside about a month ago. They have become very leggy about 8 ins. tall. When I plant them out can I put them down about 4 ins. as I would Tomatoes or any other suggestions?

I think the tubers have to be planted at the soil level--they will rot 4 inches down. I think the best thing is if you can give them more light (without burning them in direct sunlight). The stems will be brittle, so you might want to give them some support and be careful not to break them when planting.

Thanks Eric. I believe your answer to be correct. I have a great deal of light in my home. i.e. sky lights etc. so I can't believe they were lacking light. I am using support sticks and have now moved them into my greenhouse. My tubers fromlast year have not done this but these were new ones that I bought at Costco.
