we have these mushrooms groing in our property in fairly open area under lodge pole. Can find any info so far.
To me these look a lot like Pholiota squarrosa, but the stems are not as scaly as usual. They could be Armillaria mellea (or one of its relatives), but the caps look too scaly. A spore print will easily decide: the former is cinnamon brown, and the latter is white.
