Trying to identify our apple tree

    I wonder if anyone could help us identify our apple tree variety. I have attached a picture of the apple on the tree ... unpolished, etc. If anything else is required, I'd be happy to put it up here! Thanks!

    Need 6 fruits to show full range, including one cut open to show interior features. Would be best to take samples to a local fruit show, there may be one coming up. I've seen them mentioned in previous years.

    Yep. Take your half-dozen apples to the Salt Spring Island Apple Festival on Sept 28 -- they'll have apple identifiers on hand. And, you'll get a chance to try out some of those intriguing red-fleshed apples.

    Rats! I'm not going to be around on Sept 28th .... May I please take pics when I get back (of the inside and outside of a couple more of the apples)? I may try to go to the Farmer's Market ... that's the best I can think of here in Courtenay.

    No, I don't think photographs will do. An alternative to SSI is to attend UBC BG's Apple Fest -- you essentially need to find an event where members of the BC Fruit Testers Association is present.
