    Hello folks,

I'm wondering if someone can identify this variety of cherry.

It seems quite prone to suckering ... roots rise above the soil (or near to the top) and new growth comes from that (often exposed) root. The tree was planted quite deep so it isn't/wasn't a result of shallow planting.

If the leaves seem small it's because they are young growth pulled from a root (rather than an established branch).

    Thanks in advance!

Grafted on sweet cherry rootstock or an unnamed sweet cherry seedling itself.

sorry - don't know. I don't imagine you'd be able to tell from a photo of the trunk - but anything I can do to help you guys help me... let me know. I would "assume" grafted but I'm really not certain.
