I live in South Florida - have a great variety of plants - live on the 3rd floor with west window exposure - have enclosed porch - just lately have been invaded by thrips on all my oxalis - what suggestions do you have? Malathion does on number on these delicate plants. Thanks Redsponge
If you are having trouble with sprays and insecticides you should try letting your oxalis go dormant. Just hold off watering them and they will begin to lose leaves and go dormant for a few months, this way the thrips will have nothing to feed on, just make sure they don't move to your other plants. Or for anoter type of spray you can use insecticidal soap, horticultural oil, or even baby oil. the baby oil doesn't burn the plant like the others might. Just use a 70% water and 30% baby oil mix. Hope one of these helps.
Thanks James - they are on a self with several plants above and below - I viewed them under a microscope and may be those onion thrips or those could have been the juvenile Thanks again. Barbara
