Identification: tropical plant that looks like fireworks... ID needed

    Thank you for your help in identifying this plant.

    It was given to me around 5 months ago... since then some parts of it have been thriving, and other parts shriveling. I am looking for ID so that I can take better care of the plant.

    Dracena marginata. I'd give it a good chop back, plant the tops in soil or sit them in fresh water for a couple of weeks and they'll root too. Might be best off doing this after winter though.

    The tips on some of the leaves look like they might be getting too much direct sunlight and burning.
    The soil should also be allowed to dry somewhat between waterings.
    Dracaena's do just fine in bright "indirect" light.

    Agree with the above. Repot and cut back. Light from uncurtained window might be too intense.

    These grow in full sun no problem here so unless it's been grown in shade it should handle direct sunlight. I agree best position though is slightly shaded but a lot of bright light or they will defoliate pretty quick.
