I am supposed to get care information on a tree that carries this name and this alone on its tag: Tristeena can anyone help??
Hi Ed, Never heard of it and a google search turns up nothing. Are you sure it's spelled correctly? Maybe Tristania conferta? http://trees.stanford.edu/ENCYC/TRIcon.htm http://www.horticopia.com/hortpix/html/pc5331.htm How about a picture? Newt
Tristania as currently understood is restricted to the single species T. neriifolia, a large shrub rare in cultivation though quite ornamental. More widely planted are yellow-flowered Tristaniopsis laurina (syn. Tristania laurina) and white-flowered Lophostemon confertus (syn. Tristania conferta). If you google on Tristaniopsis and Lophostemon you should find plenty of stuff. Both of these are very tough trees in areas that are frost free or almost frost free, not too fussy about soil though I doubt they'd be happy in alkaline soils. Not so sure about their drought tolerance either, as they come from fairly humid coastal regions of eastern Australia.
