I have several Hydrangea bushes and all bloom nicely. My question is if it's ok to trim off the old brown blooms from last year? I was told by a neighbor that it's not good to trim these off....but they are unsightly and interfere with new growth.
    Thanks for your help.

Of course you can cut them off. Just don't cut too far down the stem to the buds for this year.

Ok, thanks...I'll watch out not to cut too far down. I thought I should be able to, but didn't want to affect this years blooms.
Thanks again for your help :)

yes, you can trim the old blooms off...just trim them right abov where they attach to the bush. on the dead area...you don't want to take the chance of cutting of this years blooms (hydrangea bloom on last years' wood).

most of mine have fallen off on their own...the last few i'll trim if they haven't fallen by the weekend.

thanks so much for your help. they've fallen off on some of the bushes, but a couple others are full of the old blooms. i'll go ahead and carefully trim them.
