Hello. My Trillium sessile L. has been trampled to the ground. There is nothing left of the plant on the grounds surface. This plant is three years old. Is it possible that it will survive given it has no leaves or stems?

As a Spring ephemeral it is likely you will just have to wait till next Spring to know. If it has flowered in the past it may not flower next Spring due to the damage. Considering that deer can browse Trilliums which somewhat simulates your situation it should recover. Let us know next year what the outcome is.

DerekK, Thank you so much for the reply. Do you think it would be safe to move it now or wait until next year?

Sorry for a late reply. I would not try and transplant it unless it is necessary. If you are doing a landscape project of some kind and it is in the way you could try but I think they are happiest when left alone.

DerekK, Thank you again for your replies and the link. I hope it comes back next year. The nursery where I purchased the plant has shut down.
