My name is Neal, I live in London with my girlfriend. Our collective knowledge of plants could be written on the back of a very small postage stamp but we have a plant in our front garden that has suddenly grown approximately 16 red tentacles in a very short time. The plant has never done this before and it has taken the appearance of a Triffid. No one whom I know can identify the plant, does anyone know what this plant is????

Those are the flowering stems, with lots of flower buds on - it'll be even more spectacular in a week or two when they open.
