    I assume it is the flowering cherries behind the coniferous tree trunks, that the correspondent is interested in. If so, I believe they are Prunus x yedoensis (Yoshino cherry), the same species celebrated in Japan during cherry blossom festivals.

    Actually, it is the tree trunks in the foreground that I most wanted to identify. Can you tell what they are?
