I am trying to identify an ornamental tree I saw planted on a commercial property. It is a small tree with large, bright pink flowers that look a little like roses. it has bright green leaves that are shaped a bit like tuliptree leaves with 4 pointed lobes, 2 evenly placed on each side. The leaves are hand-sized. The tree is blooming profusely now, at the beginning of October, in central Mississippi, USA. It is still warm here in the 80s & 90s during the day with cool nights.

Thanks so much for any guidance you can offer!

Probably one of the double forms of Hibiscus mutabilis.

No, I just looked that up. The leaves are similar, maybe with deeper grooves between the points. Looking at my camera, there are 5, almost 7 points on the leaves but the flowers are large and kind of fluffy, like big sloppy roses about the same shade of pink as that. I will have to wait until I get home to upload the pix. Now that I AM looking at my camera again, it looks now more like a large bush than a small tree.

Sorry it took me so long to get around to snapping a picture!!! Here it is. It would seem that this plant is reasonably common in the area. I have seen quite a few about since my original post.
