    Good Evening Forum,

As a new member, I do hope I have got things right here. I bought this little tree at the weekend and have since re potted it. Does anyone know what it is called?

Or even better, planted out into the ground. It won't do well for long in a pot.

Sincere thanks for the identification of my tree as "Cryptomeria Japonica Elegans".

I will remember to make sure it is fertilized as it will be in an outside container to control it's growth. Which fertilizer would be recommended?
I have a ready to use plant feed liquid and also blood, fish & bone mixture. Would either of these be appropriate?

Pick one! Either will probably work out okay.

How long ago did you re-pot that and how often are you checking it before watering to see if it needs it? Looks like over-watering might be an issue if the potting mix had plant feed in it. Check the bag you got the potting mix from to see if it had fertilizer in it, check the plant when you water, and add about a half dose of your liquid fertilizer to your water about once a month or so (read the directions and do about half the recommended until your plant starts looking better at which point you can give it the whole doses without risking it). The dry fertilizer would be a good thing to sprinkle on your pot between your monthly liquid feedings - add some dried, crushed eggshells and used coffee grounds to the mix if you use these things - but use it sparingly and don't bury your plant in coffee or other substances.

Sincere thanks to ALL the posters that have helped me out with this.

I am extremely happy to have had the tree identified for me.
