I just recently acquired a tree that I can't identify and could sure use some help? The tree is fairly young, has smooth pointed leaves with long sharp green thorns on the branches and trunk of tree. The trunk of the tree appears to be a grayish color at the base and gets greener going up. Has almost as many thorns as leaves. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos yet of it. Perhaps someone may be able to point me in the right direction as to where to start as far as identifying this tree and the care of it? Root structure, sun exposure, soil requirements, etc...) Sorry there isn't more to go on than what I described. Any help would be most appreciated!! If it helps at all, I reside near Houston, Texas and while I am not sure of the age of this tree, it seems to be thriving and is about 6 1/2 to 7 feet tall, doesn't have alot of side branches yet ( Does that make sense ? )
Thanks for any contributions that anyone can provide!

Maybe it's shown on T.A.M.U. Horticulture web site.
