While visiting in Calgary I came across a backyard tree, deciduous, 3 metres tall, indented leaves which look like a type of exotic maple. I was told it is a Mayday Tree which I believe is a type of European Cherry. The problem is the tree leaves did not look anything like cheery tree leaves that I am familiar with.
    Can anyone help?

When I learn more about this system, I'll add a photgraph.

    Thanks

'May' is an archaic name for hawthorns. Check out Common Hawthorn Crataegus monogyna or other hawthorn species to see if any of them matches.
