Help to identify a prolific maple like tree. The leafs are very close to a maple shiny green on the top side and very white and velvety on the underside. The tips of the lobes on the leaf are somewhat rounded. The tree sends out many suckers, many have referred to this as a silver leaf maple, if so whats the botanical name.

if the buds appear alternately on the stem it is likely Populus alba, Silver Poplar. looks Maple like but isnt at all a Maple. If it has opposite paired buds it may yet be a type of Maple but I feel strongly that it isnt.
