Any thoughts on whether or not tree bracing is worth the effort. Here is an example, a sugar maple with an existing bad crotch angle or fork on the main leader has split during a wind storm causing a 1 foot long split right down the middle. should it be done at all? how effective will it be? if it is worth it, is there a proper method of determining where you would install the steel rods to mend the split? thanks.

Does that mean the jury should also be cabled and braced to stop it falling apart?
