Tree/bush? Leafs like mittens -identification in my garden

    I let this little guy grow in one of my gardens since I like the leaves. I live in North West Indiana. I tried to identify it doing Google searches with no luck. I know the plant experts here are terrific. Can you help me identify this plant? If it is a keeper I might want to try to tissue culture it. Thanks!

    That's what my wife said but I didn't think so. The first image of one that I saw, may an African variety, didn't look like it.

    I don't believe anyone in the neighborhood has one. How unusual is it for one to just pop up?

    It is native in your area, it could easily be a seedling from a local woodland specimen.
