Hi, I just bought a weeping japanese maple and I broke a branch off I was wondering if there is anyway to repair that? What I mean is can I get the branch to reatach its self to the tree? Is that like grafting? I am very upset that this happened, any help would be appreciated. Hugs, Missy
Not likely unless its extremely small like 1/8 of an inch in diameter about the size of a grass stem. It may become irrelevant as it grows bigger. No need to go to confession over this one, I'd imagine.
I am assuming this was a side branch and not the main leader. Your best bet is to leave it alone. The good news is that the tree will definitely repair itself and will fill in over time. If the break was not a clean break, you may want to use a pair of clean clippers to make it a clean cut. There is no need to apply any kind of product. Attempting to reattach the branch is unlikely to be successful, especially if any appreciable amount of time has gone by. About how big is the tree?
