I have recently been asked to find out how to work with these five 3'' thick stalks of Tree Azalea.

They look like sections of giant bamboo.

They have no money to buy soil. so I suggested we mix some coffee grounds from the local cafe into the hummus rich/clay/loam soil in her backyard to increase the acidity as I believe azaleas like acidic conditions ... of course I would like to add sand as well.

Any other thoughts on the proper technique for propagation of these giant beauties?
